DJ Desk - SketchUp model with millimetre perfect dimensions
This is a DJ desk I designed myself using SketchUp and after many requests for the dimensions and questions on how it was built here it is!
You'll receive the very same SketchUp file that my Dad used to build my desk out of MDF.
I then painted the desk and used a vinyl wrap from B&Q for the top panel to give it a wood effect. You could adapt my design to use any other DJ equipment, for example CDJ's, DJ controllers, different DJ mixers etc.
The top panel just sits on top and could be interchangeable.
You can use SketchUp for free, just create a Trimble ID and view the file on your computer or use your smart phone or tablet by downloading the SketchUp app in your relevant App Store.
- Create a Trimble ID
- Sign in at sketchup.com
- Open up the web based SketchUp app
- Click 'Open from Device' and select the .skp file
- To get any dimensions use the Tape Measure icon and click point to point, the measurement will be shown in millimetres in the bottom right corner.
You'll notice I've added some 3D models of my Technics 1210's and my laptop etc. If you're computer is slowing down when trying to run SketchUp then simply delete these parts to use up less computer processing power.
Good luck, happy building and enjoy!
